Our Company
CIM Mozambique has a history of more than 75 years proudly feeding the nation. CIM was founded on July 10, 1948, by a Portuguese businessman, during the colonial period, to explore the Maize and Wheat Milling industry as well as other areas of business such as agriculture, industry and trade. In 1975 it was nationalized and subsequently managed by the Mozambican Government. From 1980, many transformations occurred in the company, including the installation and commissioning of Wheat and Maize Mills with more capacity as well as Biscuit, Sweets, and Chocolate plants.
CIM became a private company in 1995, when it was acquired by the NMI Group.
In 2005, CIM acquired Ceres, a Mozambican company that produced biscuits. With this acquisition, CIM further diversified its portfolio by adding brands such as Maria biscuits and Polana pasta to its basket of products.
In 2008, CIM expanded its activities by acquiring Mobeira, SARL, headquartered in the city of Beira, which was renamed CIM Fábrica da Beira, and CIMPAN in Nampula, reinforcing its maize flour, wheat flour and various types of pasta production capacity.
Since 2015, CIM has been a part of the Premier Group. All plants and distribution depots are based in the Maputo province, to the south of the country.
At CIM we are proud to trade in the formal and informal markets nationally with our influence also extending to other SADC countries.
